Dual testing

A dual test is used by an individual to test for Chlamydia and/or Gonorrhoea. Kits are provided for FREE from participating pharmacies, GP's and Youth Services for those aged 15 years and above. You can either complete the kit there or take it home to complete. Find your closest provider here.

If you cannot collect a kit from a local provider, you can also access a free home testing kit to be posted to your Hertfordshire home address, or at one of over 100 participating pharmacies across Hertfordshire. Sexual Health Hertfordshire is working in partnership with Get It and SH:24. Order a Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea testing kit from Get It (getit.org.uk) or order a testing kit for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV and Syphilis from (sh24.org.uk)

Anyone over the age of 15 can access a dual test if they DO NOT have symptoms. If you are not sure if you have symptoms of an STI, click here for a list of common symptoms.

If you think you are experiencing symptoms of an STI, you can visit one of our sexual health clinics by booking an appointment through the call centre on 0300 008 5522 or attending a Young Persons walk- in session (under 21's only) at one of our clinics.

A dual testing kit will contain either a vaginal swab (female) or a urine sample (male) - further instructions on how to take a sample are included in the kit. 

You will usually receive your results within 3-5 days via text message. If you test positive for chlamydia and/or gonorrhoea, you will be notified on how and where to access treatment to clear the infection. It is important that you fill out your details correctly on the sample tube and form so you can be notified of your results as quickly as possible.
