Local Offer website launch event

On Tuesday 21 January in Watford we ran an event for the launch of the new and improved Local Offer website.

We brought the Local Offer website to life by inviting SEND organisations to attend so they could speak to parents, carers and professionals, and we could demonstrate the kind of support you can find online on our website.

The event exceeded our expectations, with not only a very large number of people attending but with the large number of diversity of those people. From parents and guardians to teachers, physiotherapists, family support workers, those who run or attend support groups and many others.

The Purple All Stars


One of the highlights of the event was an amazing singing and dancing set from Hertfordshire’s own Purple All Stars. They are a group of people with learning disabilities who want to help get better healthcare for people with learning disabilities. They use creative arts to get their health messages across. Workshops

Along with the organisations who attended we also ran workshops throughout the day. These were well attended and feedback tells us they were a great way for people to get an understanding of complex topics.

Carers In Hertfordshire workshop - how we support unpaid family carers

Carers in Hertfordshire provide advice, information and support to unpaid carers - people looking after someone who is disabled, has a physical or mental illness or who misuses drugs or alcohol. They talked more about the work they do to help unpaid family carers in Hertfordshire.

SENDIASS workshop - finding a school or education setting

SENDIASS provide impartial and confidential information, advice and support to parents and carers of children with SEND. Karen and Tanya were on hand to talk about finding a school for your child.

In summary

We ran some user testing both interactively with tasks on the new site but also visually to see what the end user wanted to use and see. We tested a large range of people in both a public and professional capacity and intend on using this information to make the site better and easier to use. All in all a resounding success, with a big thanks to all who helped out, exhibited and attended. This helped make the new and improved site launch a great day.
