Information days (Oct 2017)
Information days were held at Baldock Community Centre on 6 and 8 October 2017.
Hertfordshire County Council staff were on hand to answer questions, as well as the technical consultancy team working with them on the proposals.
This was a further opportunity for local people to review the scheme we're presenting to North Hertfordshire District Council to support a planning application.
We'll continue to develop the scheme and subsequent planning applications will be submitted to define:
- scale of buildings
North Hertfordshire District Council’s draft Local Plan identifies land that we own to the north and south-east of Baldock as a sustainable location for new development. That's to meet the district’s future housing needs up to 2031.
The district council approved the Plan in April 2017. It's due to be considered by a planning inspector in November and December 2017.
We're developing a vision for our land in line with the draft Local Plan. This could create:
- over 3,000 new homes
- new community facilities such as schools and a health centre
- large areas of public open space
- 2 new link roads
- new bridges over the railway line
- improvements to the town’s railway station.
The previous consultation
Around 350 local people attended consultation events we held between 15 July – 7 August 2017.
We've listened to your ideas about the proposed development and have used your comments to shape the scheme.
Now we're continuing to consult as the scheme evolves.
