Our project team will review all of your feedback that we have received over the course of the temporary trial and public consultation. We will also assess the data we have collected over the temporary trial.

What is the purpose of the consultation?

We've been working with Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council to improve the town centre for the public. This includes making it easier for pedestrians to cross the road and improving the cycle route into the town. We'll also be working to improve the flow of traffic in the Welwyn Garden City Town Centre.

When do the works start?

Subject to the appropriate statutory processes such as Traffic Regulation Orders, works are expected the begin in 2019/2020 financial year.

When will the works be completed?

The works are expected to be completed by the 2020 centenary year celebrations for Welwyn Garden City.

How will pedestrians know what the carriageway is?

We'll be using kerbs, bollards, line marking and signage so that pedestrians will know the difference between the carriageway and footway.

How is this project being funded?

Welwyn Garden City Town Centre scheme is a project that will be delivered as part of the Integrated Transport Programme (ITP) and will be funded from the Highways capital budget.
