Robert Gordon CBE DL is the Leader of Hertfordshire County Council, elected as Leader in 2007.

The Leader's deputy is Councillor David Williams

The Leader is elected every four years following the council elections. The Leader's role is to be the leading political voice for the council and to represent the interests of Hertfordshire on the regional and national stage. 

The Leader chairs the Cabinet, appoints councillors and allocates their portfolio.
