HCL (Hertfordshire Catering Ltd) showcased the talent of staff at a glittering awards evening at the Hilton Hotel in Watford, Hertfordshire
The annual awards ceremony for the Hertfordshire County Council - owned catering company celebrated the dedication, enthusiasm, professionalism and skill found in school kitchens across Hertfordshire.
Award sponsors and HCL Chairman and Chief Executive Lin O’ Brien presented 10 awards to those who had provided high quality services and showed initiative, innovation and creativity in their role.
The winners included HCL catering teams, contract managers and mobile workers who were picked from around 100 nominations which flooded in from headteachers, business managers, and HCL management in recognition of the outstanding contribution by HCL staff.

Those celebrating on the night included Training Development Manager, Lois Barry, who received the award for “Manager of the Year” while her training development team scooped the “Innovation Award”. The catering teams at Forres, Applecroft and Howe Dell Primary Schools were also recognised for their achievements, along with secondary school catering teams from Garston Manor, Thomas Alleyne Academy and Stanborough School.
Lin O’Brien, Chief Executive of Hertfordshire Catering Ltd, said: “Our staff are our greatest asset; they have great passion for what they do and a huge commitment to the schools they work with. Our awards ceremony is just one of the ways we celebrate them and the outstanding contribution they make.”
