If you’re looking for something to do with the family this weekend why not come and visit us at the Hertfordshire County Show?
The theme of this year’s marquee is Year of Physical Activity, highlighting the different ways Hertfordshire residents can keep fit and healthy. We will also be showcasing a range of council services and sharing information on how we spend council tax payers’ money.
Other fun and informative activities have been lined up in preparation for the show on Saturday 26 May to Sunday 27 May, at the County Showground in Redbourn. These activities include:
- Firefighters raising awareness of the service and running a competition timing how quickly people can get dressed into a fire service uniform. The winner will be offered a tour around a fire station.
- A Primary School art competition where the artwork of nine children will be put on display. A tea party will be held for the three winners and runners-up on Saturday at 3pm.
- Our highways contractor, Ringway, will be bringing along a gritter and running a ‘Name the Gritter’ competition.
- Kids (or adults) will also have the opportunity to have their face painted.
Visitors will also have the chance to have an informal chat with councillors raise any issues that they may have.
Terry Douris, Executive Member for Education, Libraries & Localism, said: “We look forward to meeting as many people as possible over the two days. Come along and see what Hertfordshire has to offer.”
The annual show is organised by The Hertfordshire Agricultural Society and takes place at the County Showground, Redbourn, near St Albans.
