In response to increasing demand for extra school places, we've agreed to invest in new classrooms and facilities for a permanent increase in the Year 7 intake at four secondary schools in the county from September 2019.
The schools are St Albans Girls’ and Sandringham schools in St Albans, Chancellor’s School in Hatfield, and Stanborough School in Welwyn Garden City.
We've also approved proposals to enlarge the premises of Tewin Cowper Primary and in Tewin village, as well as Samuel Ryder Secondary in St Albans, subject to planning permission.
We're also consulting on creating more primary school places in St Albans and Hemel Hempstead.
The proposed expansions would provide an additional 30 school places at Belswains in Hemel Hempstead from September 2019, and an additional 30 places at St Peter's in St Albans from September 2020.
Since 2010, Hertfordshire County Council has approved £250m to provide over 19,000 additional permanent and temporary primary and secondary school places in the county.
