With Christmas around the corner, purse strings are beginning to tighten, so we have compiled a list of some of the best budget activities to take part in across the county this winter.
Carols at the Castle
Join the Mayor of Hertford at Hertford Castle for a night of carols in support of the Mayor’s chosen charities. Mince pies, mulled wine, tea and coffee will be served at the performance featuring singers from the Hertford Choral Society.

Christmas tree Festival
Held every year since 1997 in Holy Saviour Church, it is believed to be the oldest established Christmas Tree Festival in Britain.
More than 2,000 visitors are expected to attend the festival over two days, where 50 Christmas trees which have been decorated by local families, schools and businesses are on display. What the dickens!
A torch lit evening of light hearted fun and festive readings, featuring extracts from “A Christmas Carol” and other tales. You can also test your Christmas knowledge for the chance to win a prize in a seasonal quiz.

Ramblers Festival of Winter Walks
Burn off those festive calories and see some beautiful Hertfordshire countryside this winter with festive walks brought to you by Hertfordshire Health Walks, Walks & More and Ramblers.
There are a series of festive themed walks running between December 23 and January 7 for all ages and abilities. Visit http://www.ramblers.org.uk/winter/ to find a winter walk near you.
