Robert Gordon’s funeral was held on Monday 30 October at St Albans Abbey. Although it was a private funeral organised by the family, many Hertfordshire County Council councillors, Robert’s friends and colleagues and those from national organisations such as the Local Government Association, who have been paying tribute to Robert over the last few weeks, attended. Our thoughts continue to be with his family and all those who attended to pay their respects.
Richard Thake, Chairman of Hertfordshire County Council, has paid tribute to Robert Gordon following the funeral:
This week, we said goodbye to a great leader, politician, colleague and friend of Hertfordshire, Robert Gordon. Robert was a remarkable man, who used his immense knowledge of the county, to work tirelessly and deliver cost effective services. Everyone, who had the privilege of working with him, fully understood the huge contribution he made for the whole county.
His funeral took place on Monday at St Albans Abbey and many local and national colleagues, friends and councillors attended to pay their respects. He will be greatly missed by us all and our thoughts are with his wife Susie and his family who delivered fitting tributes to a wonderful man.
