The royal wedding is nearly upon us and we’re feeling in a celebratory mood here at the county council. Not to mention a tad romantic! So, how better to celebrate the wedding of Prince Harry to his fiancée, Meghan Markle, than by hosting your very own royal street party?
This wholesome community tradition has grown in popularity in Hertfordshire since the county council made the decision to scrap road closure charges for residential roads without bus routes in the run up to the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011. As a result, the county received more applications for street parties than any other area that year, proving that Hertfordshire residents love an excuse for a right royal knee’s up.
So invite your neighbours, string up the bunting and bring out the cake as you prepare to celebrate arguably the most the romantic royal wedding in British history between the Prince Royal and the American actress.
Information on how to apply for a street party road closure can be found at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/streetparties.
Be sure to return your completed application form to the county council before the application deadline on April 6th, and let the celebrations begin!
