Baldock and Letchworth water now restored

Posted: Wednesday 2nd August 2017

Water has now been restored in Baldock and Letchworth

Affinity Water have now fixed the successfully repaired the burst water main late last night and their service is returning to normal.

We’ve been working with both Affinity Water and North Hertfordshire District Council until late last night (Tuesday 1 August) to ensure that:

  • an adequate supply of bottled water is being supplied at nearby locations
  • we have contingency water arrangements for our Fire and Rescue Service in the local area
  • we are in contact with the service providers of our most vulnerable residents to ensure they are being looked after (including those in care homes)
  • we manage the disruption to our highways, with diversion signs around the London Road, B197 entering Baldock, near junction 9 of the A1M

Affinity Water have assured us that any discolouration of the water is not uncommon following a major mains interruption and this will clear with normal water use.
