We’re looking for people to become full-time firefighters with Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
There’s more to being a firefighter than you might think. You’ll respond to emergencies, from fire and traffic collisions, to floods and chemical spills, as well as all sorts of rescues.
But just as importantly, you’ll carry out home safety visits with vulnerable residents, go into schools to educate children on fire safety, promote safety messages in the community and be a role model for young people on schemes like the Duke of Edinburgh awards and Prince’s Trust.
You’ll need to be physically fit and mentally tough, but we also need people who can act with initiative, solve problems, communicate well and be calm under pressure.
It’s a career where you get to work as part of a close and supportive team, making a real difference to your community, and where no two days are the same.
We want to make sure our fire and rescue service represents the community we serve, so whatever your background and whatever you’re doing at the moment, if you’re looking for an exciting, active and varied career visit our website at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/beafirefighter by 22 July and find out more about what we’re looking for and how to apply.
