Councillor backs improved signage at University

County Councillor Paul Zukowskyj (Hatfield South) has allocated £1,609 from his locality budget to Hertfordshire County Council’s Highways division to improve signage between two campuses at the University of Hertfordshire (College Lane and de Havilland) in Hatfield.
Drivers unfamiliar with the area will have clearer information to help them reach their destination safely.
Cllr Zukowskyj said: “The local signs have been missing for some time, so it seemed sensible to me to include the University’s two campuses on the signs when they were replaced as they are a major destination for local traffic.
“I was delighted to be able to convince the University to contribute to the cost; it means public funds can go even further in repairing our roads and footpaths.”
The locality budget scheme has funded thousands of community projects since it was launched in 2009, supporting local good causes and making a real difference to people across Hertfordshire.
County councillors work closely with local communities to identify local issues. For this year, each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council has £5,000 to spend on worthwhile projects in their area and they welcome applications from across the local community.
