Councillors secure funding for great local causes

Published: 21 Feb 2020

Hertfordshire County Council’s locality budget scheme has funded thousands of worthwhile projects since it was launched in 2009, making a positive difference to many Hertfordshire communities.

County councillors work closely with local communities to identify local issues and have £10,000 each year each to spend on projects in their area. They welcome applications from across the local community.

The following grant recently benefited a Letchworth project:

Councillor Simon Bloxham (Letchworth North) awarded a grant of £1500 to Letchworth Detachment, 2 Company, Beds & Herts ACF, to fund an historic tour of the battlefields of Europe. Cllr Bloxham said: “I am pleased to be able to support the Letchworth Army Cadets with their tour to the battlefields of Europe. The cadets will learn such a lot from this visit helping them to develop life skills while learning more about the sacrifices made by so many in two world wars.”
