Explore the Colne Valley on a new walking route

Published: 25 Oct 2017

Join Watford Rural Parish Council and Hertfordshire County Council’s Countryside Management Service (CMS) on Tuesday 7 November, to enjoy a guided walk to celebrate the launch of a new circular walking route, the Hampermill Walk.

Hertfordshire County Council Cabinet Member for Environment, Derrick Ashley, said: “The countryside around Hampermill is beautiful and this new signposted route is a great resource for local people to get active and enjoy the great outdoors on their doorstep.”

This new 2 mile circular walk has an accompanying leaflet so you can download or pick up a copy and explore the beautiful Colne Valley in Oxhey. If you take the Ebury Way and local footpaths you’ll pass by Hampermill Lake, Hamper Mill itself and the Clock House.

The Hampermill Walk is the third in a series of walking routes in Hertfordshire developed through the Parish Paths Partnership to encourage all of us to get out and explore our beautiful county. Other routes include Stapleford Along the Beane, near Hertford, and the Albury Walks, near Bishop Stortford.

Pick up a copy of the Hampermill Walk leaflet in your local library or download the leaflet, and/or visit the Walking and Cycling Routes pages at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/cms
