Have your say on the plans for new Baldock neighbourhoods

Published: 28 Sep 2017

Local people have an opportunity to view Hertfordshire County Council’s updated plans to develop new neighbourhoods for Baldock and provide further feedback at two information days.

The information days will be held at Baldock Community Centre, on Simpson Drive, on Friday 6 October (3pm to 8pm) and on Saturday 7 October (11.30am to 2.30pm).

Staff from the county council, as well as from the technical consultancy team working with them on the proposals, will be on hand to answer questions. The information days follow on from July’s consultation which was attended by nearly 400 local residents.

David Williams, Cabinet Member for Resources, Property and the Economy, said: “We were pleased to see so many residents at our events in July to discuss our initial plans and we have already had some very constructive feedback which will help to shape our plans moving forward.

“We are holding these further events to give local people a chance to view the revised plans and provide further feedback. We would encourage as many people as possible to come along and help shape this important development for the town.”

Hertfordshire County Council is developing a vision for its land in line with North Hertfordshire District Council’s draft Local Plan. This could deliver over 3,000 new market and affordable homes, new community facilities such as schools and a health care centre, and large areas of public open space. The new development would also create two new link roads, a new pedestrian and new vehicular bridge over the railway line, and improvements to the town’s railway station.

It will also be possible to view the updated plans online at www.baldockconsultation.co.uk  from Friday 6 October.
