Hertfordshire school children set to perform at the Royal Albert Hall

Hertfordshire school children will perform at the Royal Albert Hall this March in what is billed as a “celebration of singing and music in our schools”.

Organised by the County Council’s Music Service, the biannual ‘Hertfordshire Schools Gala’ will feature live art, dance and a world premiere of If I had Wings by Will Todd, with words by the popular children’s author, Michael Rosen.

Primary and secondary schools taking part in the performances include Hitchin Girls, Broxbourne, Sandringham, Monks Walk, Watford Girls school, Bushey Heath Primary, Crabtree Primary, Ickleford Primary, Pixmore Junior School and The Wroxham School, to name a few.

Terry Douris, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “Hertfordshire County Council’s Music Service enjoys a national reputation for excellence due to the superb level of music making that goes on.

“All concerts provide a great opportunity for members of the public to enjoy some wonderful music and see the wealth of musical talent we have in the county.”
