New pedestrian crossings in Station Road, Baldock

Published: 06 Aug 2019

New pedestrian crossing points are being installed in Station Road, Baldock to make it easier and safer for residents to walk between the town centre and the station.

Currently, people walking to and from the station have to cross the busy road with no proper crossing points available.

The county council’s contractors will be installing four pedestrian crossing points, replacing kerbs, and realigning pavements to make it safer to cross the road, as well and resurfacing the road and pavement.

The works will take place between Friday 9 August and Sunday 1 September. Station Road will be closed while the work is carried out and a signed diversion put in place, although it will still be possible to access homes and businesses in the area. Details of closures and diversions routes are on our website at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/roadworks

Phil Bibby, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “We want to make our road network safer for pedestrians and make it easier for people to get around on foot. We know these improvement works will be disruptive, which is why we’ve scheduled them for the school holidays when traffic is lighter. I’d like to apologise in advance for the inconvenience and I hope people will bear with us while we make these important safety improvements.”
