We want to hear you views on our vision for the future of Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service
Published: 07 Jan 2019
Following the publication of our draft Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP), Hertfordshire County Council wants to hear from you at a series of public meetings across the county.
The draft IRMP, which was published in late 2018, details the risks that have been considered, what resources the fire and rescue service needs, and where they need to be in order to comprehensively manage these now and in the future.
Hertfordshire County Council wants to hear your thoughts on the draft plan, which you can share in the online consultation, or in person at one of the public meetings.
The meetings will take place at:
- Berkhamsted Civic Centre, HP4 3HD, on 16 January between 18:00 and 20:00
- The Wellspring Church, Watford, WD17 2AH, on 23 January between 18:00 and 20:00
- County Hall, Hertford, SG13 8DE, on 5 February between 18:00 and 20:00.
Terry Hone, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said: “Our fire and rescue service needs to evolve to face the challenges of the 21st century and this plan sets out how we think that should happen.
“The fire and rescue service have produced this plan after looking at what kind of incidents they are called to, where they are and when they happen, as well as looking at what the challenges and opportunities will be over the next 30 years. We need to make sure that we have the right equipment, in the right places, crewed by the right people with the right training, not just to deal with today’s challenges but tomorrow’s too.
“We want to hear what our staff, the public and key stakeholders think about the draft plan and I’d encourage people to let us know their thoughts before we make a decision on whether to go ahead with these proposals. The forthcoming public meetings are a great way to have your say on the future of the fire and rescue service.”
The plan reaffirms Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s commitment to close collaboration with other emergency services, particularly with Hertfordshire Constabulary, following the agreement signed by the county council and Police and Crime Commissioner earlier this year.
You can view the draft plan and respond to the consultation online at https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/about-the-council/consultations/fire-and-rescue/fire-and-rescue-service-integrated-risk-management-plan.aspx or join us at a public meeting over the coming weeks.
The 12 week consultation period runs from 12 December 2018 to the 6 March 2019. The results of the consultation will be reported back to the county council’s Cabinet in the summer.
