Your Hertfordshire Magazine will be hitting doormats next week
Published: 06 Mar 2019
Hertfordshire County Council’s new magazine Your Hertfordshire is being delivered across the county next week to provide information to residents about their council tax and the services it pays for.
If residents can’t wait to receive a copy in the post, they can read it online now through the council’s website at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/yourhertfordshire
Hertfordshire County Council distributed the last issue of its long- running resident’s magazine, Horizons, in September 2018. The decision to focus on more targeted, digital communications and reduce the number of printed publications sent to residents was made by the Council in 2017.
By moving to the new, smaller, annual publication the council has saved £100,000 this year.
Residents who want to keep up to date with the latest news, information and consultations are encouraged to join the 90,000 residents who have already signed up to receive Update Me emails from Hertfordshire County Council. Residents can choose to get the latest news or specific updates about libraries, health walks, highways and much more.
The County Council’s social media accounts, which have over 100,000 followers, are another key part of the modern, digitally-led approach they are taking to communicate with Hertfordshire residents. They also began to live stream council meetings last month.
Cllr David Williams, Leader of Hertfordshire County Council said: “We are constantly looking at ways to make the best use of our resources in order to protect our frontline services. In this case the opportunity to save £100,000 was too good an opportunity to pass up.
“Your Hertfordshire will give residents a flavour of the vital services we are providing, such as adult’s and children’s social care, which are paid for by council tax. It also provides contact information for the small amount of people who don’t have online access.
“Signing up to receive our Update Me emails or following us on social media are the best ways for residents to find out what’s happening in their local area – whether it’s roadworks on their journey to work or school application deadlines - and crucially they will get this up to date information when they need it most.”
Your Hertfordshire will be delivered from 11 March. To sign up to Hertfordshire County Council’s update me emails visit www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/updateme
