Across the county, we have launched a new scheme called Connected2Work which aims to help those who have autism, or a learning or physical disability, get into work. Throughout May and June a number of events were held by our Adult Social Care team to provide extra support and guidance for young people, and giving them tips on getting into volunteering and eventually the workplace. Advisors from Job Centres, the Volunteer Centre, Hertfordshire Adult Family Learning Service, Work Solutions and YC Hertfordshire (youth support), were available at the events held in our libraries to speak to visitors. There were also demonstrations of the new Connected2Work webpage, practical support with CV’s and applications, and much more. This scheme is integral to the Hertfordshire Skills Strategy working in partnership to increase and develop our workforce to ensure we can support a strong economy within which businesses can thrive, whilst enabling all residents of Hertfordshire to maximise their own individual potential and share in Hertfordshire’s prosperity. We would urge you to signpost any residents who would like an extra confidence boost or help writing their CV to find out more about the scheme by visiting: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/connected2work or by calling 0300 123 4049.
