After careful consideration Hertfordshire County Council has formally decided to join England’s Economic Heartland emerging Sub National Transport Board.
Hertfordshire’s growth, transport and infrastructure issues are multi-directional and there was never going to be a ‘perfect fit’ for us whichever Sub National Transport Board we decided to join. On balance, we felt our major issues of East-West connectivity and our economic growth ambitions chimed well and best with the interests and ambitions of England’s Economic Heartland. We do recognise however that we have to work across our boundaries and will continue to be an associate member of Transport for East to ensure effective collaboration on growth and infrastructure issues in the East Herts/Broxbourne/West Essex/M11/LSCC corridor. Derrick Ashley, Executive Member for Growth, Infrastructure, Planning and Economy, will continue to attend Transport for East as an Associate Member together with Linda Haysey, Leader of East Herts District Council.
