Why upskill your workforce?
There are many benefits to training your workforce - both to you as an employer and to your staff as employees.
According to a skills gap survey conducted by the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership, half of employers identified that there were skills gaps in their workforce, which they consider to have a direct affect on their business competitiveness.
The most common gaps identified are job-specific and also general skills including:
- problem solving
- oral and written communications
- advanced IT skills.
Developing the skills of your staff through training is a key factor to their overall performance, output and achievements, which will then positively impact on your business.
Evidence also showed those individuals with little or low skills levels struggle to secure sustainable employment. Investing time and effort into learning could increase the number of individuals likely to remain in employment.
