Upskill your workforce

Empower your business - train your staff and enhance their skills with FREE assessments in Maths and English.

Are you a small business in Hertfordshire with less than 250 employees?

Hertfordshire Adult and Family Learning Service can provide your staff with relevant training to help them achieve more in their existing roles, enabling your business to thrive!

How we can help

  • To ascertain the best level of study for your employees, we can either visit your premises to agree a wider training plan, or direct your employees to complete online assessments in their own time. Online assessments are only available for English and Maths courses.
  • Your employees will receive confidential feedback on their free assessments.
  • We'll then use diagnostic tools to understand the specific areas they need help with.
  • We can help you plan solutions to support your employees, including looking at specific courses tailored to your business needs.
  • For your employees that are identified with training requirements, courses can be arranged at convenient times and locations to suit you.

Why upskill your workforce?

There are many benefits to training your workforce - both to you as an employer and to your staff as employees.

According to a skills gap survey conducted by the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership, half of employers identified that there were skills gaps in their workforce, which they consider to have a direct affect on their business competitiveness.

The most common gaps identified are job-specific and also general skills including:

  • problem solving
  • oral and written communications
  • advanced IT skills.

Developing the skills of your staff through training is a key factor to their overall performance, output and achievements, which will then positively impact on your business.

Evidence also showed those individuals with little or low skills levels struggle to secure sustainable employment. Investing time and effort into learning could increase the number of individuals likely to remain in employment.
