Building Futures is a partnership of nine Hertfordshire local authorities, led by Hertfordshire County Council, with stakeholder input and engagement.
It provides the following resources to help promote, facilitate and recognise high quality sustainable development across the County:
- Promote - A Sustainable Design Toolkit
- Facilitate - The Hertfordshire Design Review Panel
- Recognise - The Building Futures Awards
A Sustainable Design Toolkit has been developed to help those who prepare and assess development proposals in Hertfordshire. It helps to better understand the principles of sustainable design and construction and to consider how best these principles can be applied to specific schemes and sites. Interactive PDF versions of the Toolkit are available and can be used to create a Sustainable Design Statement to submit alongside a planning application or pre-application submission. Technical PDF modules are also available alongside the Toolkit.
The Hertfordshire Design Review Panel provides expert, independent and impartial design advice on the quality and sustainability of development proposals coming forward within Hertfordshire. For more information on the Panel, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Building Futures Awards are an opportunity for the best of Hertfordshire’s recent development schemes to get the recognition they deserve.
