Support available to you and your family
You can get benefits or financial support if your child or young person doesn't have a diagnosis. Benefits are based on a person's needs, rather than a condition. You can ask your specialist or paediatrician to outline your child's difficulties or symptoms, and how they affect daily life to support your claims.
If your child or young person attends a place of education- such as nursery, school or college- they may be entitled to SEN support based on your child's needs.
As a parent you may not think of yourself as a carer, but you could look into applying for a carer's assessment of need.
