Hertfordshire’s Better Care Fund
The Better Care Fund is a national initiative to pool existing NHS and social care money in local areas into a single shared fund. Working closely with the NHS, we decide how to spend the budget and develop projects that give people better care services and support. Hertfordshire has pooled over £300m in 2016/17, making it one of the largest local funds in the country.
You can read our Better Care Fund Plan for 2016 – 17 if you'd like to find out more about what we're doing.
NHS organisations and local authorities across England have come together to develop five-year plans – known as Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs) – covering all aspects of NHS spending in their local area. We're working with our health partners to develop this ‘place-based’ plan for the future of health and care services in our area.
