Patrick Nyarumbu and Karen Lockett - Developing workforce for the future in Learning Disabilities

Patrick Nyarumbu

Director of Nursing Leadership and Quality NHS England and Head of Learning Disabilities and Autism

Patrick has worked in the NHS for the past 20 years and is currently Director of Nursing Leadership and Quality for NHS England and NHS Improvement (East region). He has worked in different clinical settings in mental health as well as acute providers in senior nursing positions. Prior to joining NHS England, Midlands and East region, Patrick was the Deputy Executive Nurse and Deputy Director of Quality for the CCGs in the city of Manchester. He has worked in different roles in NHS England for the past 5 years, first as the Regional Deputy Director of Nursing and as a Director Of Nursing for a sub-regional team. His responsibilities over the years covered broad regional portfolios such as safeguarding, SEND, quality, transforming care programme for learning disabilities, patient experience and continuing healthcare (CHC).

Karen Lockett

Karen is a registered learning disabilities nurse with 37 years of experience working across various disciplines within the NHS. Karen is currently the regional lead for the learning disabilities and autism programme and work closely with TCP, STP and ICS to ensure the commitment of Building the Right Support and more recently the Long Term Plan are realised.
