Safeguarding training and learning
We provide a wide variety of learning programmes and workshops across Hertfordshire to build skills for safeguarding children and young people.
Inter-agency training supports staff in:
- sharing practice
- understanding each other’s roles and responsibilities
- working effectively both within and across organisations.
The Partnership runs a Learning Hub which aims to improve local safeguarding practice for both children and vulnerable adults. The Learning Hub is a feedback loop between front line practitioners and the Strategic Partnership, ensuring learning on priority local issues is shared and acted on at all levels in a timely way. The Hub will identify three themes each year.

HSCP training courses and charges
Our training courses build on the level 1 awareness sessions provided by agencies to their own staff.
Keep an eye on the booking system for our latest courses and events. Our Lite Bites are shorter sessions on a specific safeguarding topic.
All of our courses are run by knowledgeable trainers and experts in the field, so you can be sure that the content of each programme will be interesting, stimulating and reflects safeguarding best practice in Hertfordshire.
From 1 April 2011, all delegates from agencies that do not contribute to the HSCP budget, including schools, district and borough councils, out of county providers and profit making private and independent organisations, will be charged for their staff to attend HSCP training courses. This will be at a cost of £75.00 per person per full-day course, or £50.00 per person per half-day course.
Courses are free of charge to HSCP contributory member agencies and the voluntary sector.
Lite Bite sessions are free of charge to all agencies.
Cancellation charges of £75.00 per person per full-day course, or £50.00 per person per half-day/lite bite course will apply to all agencies if delegates fail to attend on the day, or fail to advise HSCP in writing more than 14 days in advance of the course that they are no longer able to attend.
Invoices for course fees, non-attendance, or late cancellations will be sent to agencies after the course.
