Each foster carer has a social worker to offer them ongoing support and advice. This includes a formal supervision visit each month.
We also offer local support groups to help foster carers get together and share experiences.
Each area team provides a duty system between 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. You can also get advice and information from The Fostering Network and GOV.UK .
Our out of hours telephone service is provided by fostering service staff from 5.30pm - 11pm 7 days a week. This is for urgent issues only.
Non - urgent issues and queries (such as payments and cancelling appointments) should be referred to your social worker in the usual way. This is telephone support only and staff won't be making visits as part of the service.

We're pleased to be a member of New Family Social, a UK network of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) adoptive and foster families. Register to access their forums and members areas.
Foster carers are paid a weekly payment for skills plus a weekly allowance for each child they look after. The payment for skills is for the work of the foster carer and the allowance is to cover the costs involved in looking after a child.
For more information about allowances see our Payment for foster carers leaflet. Also see the benefits we can offer you.
