Level 1 course

  • Consists of two 2-hour sessions
  • Usually on consecutive days
  • Minimum number of children: 10. Recommended number: 12. Maximum number: 16.
  • School year 3 and older
  • £15/child

Level 2 course

  • Consists of 5 sessions on consecutive days
  • Minimum number of children: 10. Recommended number: 12. Maximum number: 16.
  • Firstly a 2-hour session including cycle check and assessment of level 1 skills on playground; then four 75 minute sessions at local road junctions.
  • School year 5 and older
  • Due to Department of Transport funding, Level 2 and 3 course prices are reduced until 31 March 2021.

Level 3 course

  • Aimed at children transferring to secondary school to encourage cycling to school and those that have successfully completed Level 2 training.
  • School year 6 and older (must have completed Level 2)
  • Due to Department of Transport funding, Level 2 and 3 course prices are reduced until 31 March 2021.
  • £28/child

Beginner biking/fun skills

  • Reception and older
  • £60/hour

Beginner biking:

  • Beginner biking is a two 1 hour session for 8 child/carer pairs.
  • Stabilisers should be removed from children's bikes before the start of the course.
  • Parents/carers must understand that they are there to help their child learn.

Fun skills:

  • Helping young cyclists understand that cycling is both a skill and fun.
  • Fun skills course is two hours, for 16 children who can cycle unaided.

Please note if a combined course is booked - you can have a 1 hour Beginner biking and either a 1 or 2 hour Fun skills.

Cancellations

Any courses cancelled within 14 days of the confirmed start day will carry a charge in line with the fees stated below:

Within (days of course start date):

  • 14 days - £150
  • 10 days - £200
  • 7 days -   £250
  • 4 days -   £300

The above charges may also apply if the number of confirmed trainee’s changes significantly requiring the reduction in the number of instructors needed to deliver the booked training courses. This covers the cost of lost earnings.

Cancellations due to weather related issues such as snow must be agreed with the Hertfordshire Cycling team where a discussion over possible new dates / timetables for training will take place. This is subject to the agreement of the Hertfordshire Cycling management team.
