Myths and facts about roll-ups

Myth

Roll-ups are less harmful than ‘normal’ cigarettes.

Fact

Roll-ups contain 4,000 toxic chemicals, including cyanide and arsenic. They're just as harmful as manufactured cigarettes.

Myth

By smoking roll-ups I can choose how much tobacco I smoke.

Fact

No amount of tobacco is ‘safe’. No matter how little you smoke, you’re still exposed to all of those 4,000 toxic chemicals, every single time.

Myth

Loose tobacco is more natural and organic than cigarettes, so it’s healthier.

Fact

Roll-ups produce even more tar than cigarettes and can lead to infertility, impotence, cancer or premature death. Loose tobacco comes from the same place as the tobacco in cigarettes.

Myth

Roll-ups aren’t as addictive as cigarettes.

Fact

Hand rolled tobacco also produces more of the addictive ingredient, nicotine, than cigarettes. Smoking roll-ups without a filter means you inhale extra nicotine and become even more addicted.
