The changeover to British Summer Time (or Daylight Saving Time – DST) may cause some old-style street lights in Hertfordshire not to switch on as usual.
When the clocks go forward one hour at 1am on Sunday the 31st March it is possible that some of the lights that operate on a part-night timing schedule may not come on as normal.
Part-night lighting operates between midnight and 6am. In the week before and after the clock change, it is possible that some of the lights operating on a part-night timing schedule may not switch on as usual. After this, the light should resume normal part-night operation.
We apologise for any inconvenience. This is due to the programming of photo-cells in some of the older-style units.
By the end of March 2020 the majority of Hertfordshire’s streetlights will be changed to LEDs, saving millions of pounds and resolving this issue. We have converted almost three-quarters of streetlights to LED.
