Lilley Bottom Bridge, Lilley
Vital renewal works on the Lilley Bottom Bridge, Lilley start in April planned for approximately 10 weeks.
When is it happening?
- On the A505 from 24 April for approximately 10 weeks.
- On the top of the bridge from 18 June for approximately 1 week. These works will be carried out at night (9pm - 6am).
The works include:
- expansion joint replacement
- concrete repairs
- minor repairs and maintenance, including road markings and vegetation clearance.
Works on top of the bridge will be carried out under a full road closure for the full duration.
Works on the A505 will be carried out using a 24/7 lane closure and a temporary speed limit of 50mph.
Night closures on the A505 will be required to install, amend and remove traffic management. This will be advertised on variable message signs on site.
Why is it happening?
We’ve made every effort to schedule these works when they'll be the least disruptive, but we do appreciate that road users will still experience some delays.
There is never a good time to do large-scale works of this nature, but the bridge will be coming to a point where its safety might be compromised and we have a duty to make sure that all road users are safe.
