Royston town centre carriageway renewal

We are carrying out vital carriageway resurfacing works and town centre improvementsWorks start on 11 September and will last up to 6 weeks.

What's happening?

We'll be replacing the block paving on the road with tarmac.

This will happen on:

  • High Street (North and south section) between 11 September - 11 October, 9am - 6pm
  • Upper King Street between 11 September - 11 October, 9am - 6pm
  • John's Street between 11 September - 11 October, 9pm - 5am
  • Fish Hill on 17 September, 10am - 4pm.

We will close one section at a time and vehicles will have access to one part of the High Street throughout the works.

This road will also be opened each night to allow residential access.

Throughout the works, there will be traffic operatives on site to help with any queries.

Access for pedestrians will be maintained at all times.

Why is it happening?

Works to improve the road surface will improve safety and provide improved pedestrian access across the town centre.

At the same time, we also aim to make improvements to drainage, pathways, adding new bins, cleaning signs and adding new line markings on the road. Making these improvements at the same time will limit future distrution to residents.

If your business is directly affected by these works, contact us to discuss any queries in more detail.
