For World Alzheimer’s Month in September we are teaming up with NHS Trust Libraries, with information stands, activities and displays in libraries and other venues showing what is available for people with dementia, carers, and families.
Leaflets and information will be on offer in libraries across Hertfordshire. Displays of the Dementia Books on Prescription collection include life stories about the experience of having dementia, caring for someone with dementia, and information about coping with the condition. The Reminiscence Collection, which helps people who have memory loss, carers and families, is available free for library members.
Activities include special dementia friendly tales for toddlers and grandparents. Find out about becoming a Dementia Friend and learn how you can make a difference. Knit ‘n’ Natter with volunteers from Lister Hospital, knitting shawls and ‘Twiddle Muffs’ for hospital patients and care home residents. Find out more about carers support and activities available with Lister Hospital Carers Support and Crossroads Care. Demonstrations and displays of activity blankets, created to support those with dementia, from the Lister Hospital Sew Dementia group. For details of activities click here or call 0300 123 4049.
