“Ding, ding, tickets please”, “Mind the gap” and “Put a tiger in your tank”
Do you remember these phrases that were used regularly when travelling by bus, train and car.
Can you remember handing your coins to the clippy, hearing the turn of the machine and out popped the coloured ticket? Or as you hopped onto the train being warned to be careful, and then hearing the clickerty clack of the wheels on track. Or the smell of 4 star petrol as the gas guzzler was filled up.
Reserve our Transport box and see what other travelling memories can be found.
The Reminiscence Collection has a number of items to remind you of adventures made, which you can share with your family and friends to spark memories and conversation about the past.
All items in the collection can be reserved for pick up from your local Hertfordshire library; browse the whole collection online
Are we there yet?
Oh the excitement of a day trip to the seaside. The car is loaded, bucket and spade at the ready, five miles down the road the smell of dog and petrol is too just much, feeling queasy, pull over…………….. We’ve arrived, it’s pouring with rain but spam sandwiches in grease proof paper and orange squash in a plastic beaker will help until the sun comes out again! Have a look through our collection of dvds, books boxes and puzzles for other (more pleasant) travel memories.
Squishy Squeezy Meshballs! We’ve added these balls to our sensory boxes for a different tactile experience.
What’s going on?
3rd – 9th November is International Games Week, where challenge and competition takes place indoors and a great deal of the time seated. Whilst taking on your family and friends, see how many places, songs and memories come back to you when playing our board games from the comfort of your chair.
