Hertfordshire Libraries Reminiscence Collection
Almost everything we buy today, whether it’s food, household items or clothing, is often influenced by the labels and packaging. Usually we are drawn to something by the way it looks or smells. Do you remember your mother or grandmother using any of the items below? All these items can be found in our Household Brands Through Time box, which is a brilliant example of classic brands we all remember.
Favourite Sweet or Chocolates
The weekend has arrived and now you have your pocket money to spend on your weekly comic and sweets. Do you remember buying any of these sweets? Most of the chocolate bars pictured are still available with Opal fruits now being called Starburst and Marathon now known as Snickers bar. Our Robert opie books are a great source of reminiscence especially for sweets and packaging.
The latest addition to our collection is this Omega toaster, which is an early version of what was to become our modern toaster. It allowed you to toast two slices of bread at the same time, then you turned it over to do the other side. We will be adding it to our Feeding the Family reminiscence box.
Have a look at the collection, all Items can be reserved online and collected from any of our 46 libraries.
