The Get Creative Festival shines a light on all the great cultural activity that takes place right across the UK on a regular basis and encourages people to try their hand at something new and creative. This huge national celebration of creativity aims to give everyone the chance to get actively involved in a creative event in their local area from 11 – 19 May 2019. It is a great way for people to find out how to get creative on their doorstep and try something different with hundreds of hands-on events on offer.
Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Watford Libraries are all holding events in their CreatorSpaces during the week. There is a selection of activities to choose from most of which are free.
Activities kick off with “Creativity through Craft” at St.Albans library on Saturday 11th May, between 2pm – 4pm with some Pom Pom making. St Albans library, recently refurbished and to coincide with the official launch are fully embracing Get Creative Week making use of their brand new CreatorSpace. During the week there is an opportunity to join in with a range of events being held. On Sunday May 12th between 2pm – 4pm why not join in with “Creativity through Art” where you can try out a 3D pen or why not come to “Creativity through Sound” on Tuesday May 14th between 2pm – 4pm and try out the Makey Makey piano. There is also an opportunity to try out our Virtual Reality headsets at the Future Creativity event being held on Sunday 19th May between 1pm-3pm.
Hemel Hempstead Library are holding a “Creative Day” between 11am – 2pm for children aged 4+ (all children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult). Children will have an opportunity to try out a Virtual Reality headset or try some coding with an Ozobot. Tickets cost £1 and are available from the library.
Watford Library are holding a variety of creative events too. There’s a “Sewing Club for adults” on Tuesday May 14th between 11am – 1pm, tickets cost £2.50 from the library or there is “Sewing for Children” on Saturday May 18th 10.30am – 11.30am suitable for children aged 8+, tickets cost £2.50 and are available from the library.
Other events include Lego and Coding events.
