As the nights draw in, settle down at home and use Universal Class and Learnmyway to learn new skills
Log on to access over 500 high quality online courses which cover work and leisure. This is an American resource but there is a lot of courses ranging from art and crafts to interview skills, interior design to decluttering your house to English as a Second Language, creative writing skills to accounting.
Take knitting for example – Universal Class has a course is designed to teach beginners the basics of knitting. Eleven lessons take you through the process from how to read and understand patterns finishing with some simple knitting projects to practice and complete.
If you need help when planning to re-enter the world of work or move roles, choose Interview Skills 101. This course covers topics such as common interview questions, phone interviews and what employers want, to help you gain confidence
Learnmyway is another website with free online courses designed to help you to develop digital skills to make the most of the online world.
Starting with the basics LearnMyWay gives you the confidence to find out about lots of online activities such as banking and shopping, social media, job hunting, health and public services. Videos take you through searching various websites to help you find information in the most effective way.
