November sparklers: resources to help with health and wellbeing. Skeletons in the closet? family history websites
Everyone experiences health concerns at some time in their lives so investigate the Reading Well on Prescription pages via www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/libraries . This initiative aims to provide people with information to manage their health by reading books. Every book on the list is recommended by health professionals so you can be sure that the information can be trusted. There are 4 collections of books available to borrow which may be of interest:
To borrow any of the books on these lists you will need to be a library member; it is easy to join by providing a proof of address at your nearest library or join online by following the link on the Reading Well Books on Prescription web page.
When you join the library you will have access to lots of free online resources. Come into the library to search your family history using Ancestry or FindMyPast – you can use worldwide archives and resources to track your ancestors. Closer to home use Hertfordshire Names Online to research local history resources such as newspapers, wills and poor law records to discover more about your family or where you live.
For other online services go to www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/orlib or ask staff at any Hertfordshire library.
