Launch day is almost here. But a question is before us. Who are the Rocket family and who are the aliens that will be gracing us with their presence over the summer? Allow me to introduce them.
The Rocket Family
First up, we have Joe. Joe is into stargazing, which explains why the children are named after constellations. Joe is married to Holly, and she is the scientist of the family.
There are three children. Leo, Cass and Bear. They also have a pet dog named Laika, named after the first dog to orbit the earth. All are members of the Moon Library.
Nana Whiz is Holly’s mother, an unusual Grandmother if there ever was one. She enjoys the company of her pet alien, Dot, named after Dorothy Vaughn, who worked with NASA and made important contributions.
Hubble is the space librarian of the Moon library. She asks the Rocket family to investigate the disappearance of the missing books. We also meet Orion and Trevor.
Now we meet the aliens, the naughty explorers of the galaxies.
Dusty, a bit of a grump, and is named after space dust. Tina is the pilot of the ship, named after Valentina Tereshkova. Tina has a book grabber so watch out.
Eris, a fearsome creature, but a gentle giant, is named after the second-largest dwarf planet in our Solar System. Finally, we have Hal, the co-pilot, and chief of the alien’s gadget haul, named after Halley’s Comet
