Sawbridgeworth Community Library – August e-newsletter
Breaking news! Sawbridgeworth Community Library has been overrun with Mischief Makers..... and, no, we are not talking about the 25 volunteers learning the library ropes! Our Summer Reading Challenge has seen Dennis and his Beano Town buddies read at least six books and solve all the clues on the trail of the missing treasure in Beanotowns. Our Library has been filled with little faces telling us about their adventures through "The deep dark woods", off to "Never Never Land" and learning "there's no place like home". Some children were even lucky enough to find one of our 40 story stones that were hidden around Sawbridgeworth at the start of the challenge. It couldn't have been a better way to celebrate the school holidays!
Our mission to become community led continues. We are learning a great deal whilst shadowing our Bishop Stortford Library buddies. They have been a fountain of knowledge and for that we are really grateful. We are concentrating on improving our knowledge of how the library works, filling the spaces in our rota and getting to grasp with the everyday library tasks.
It's not all been work and learning however.. OnFriday 20th July we held our very first volunteers coffee morning. A large number of our volunteers were able to attend, and we discussed the ins and outs of our journey so far and not to mention what the future holds. To help save the environment one plastic cup at a times, we also tried a "bring your own mug" policy and no coffee morning would have been complete without some deliciously tempting cakes. Yum!
Sawbridgeworth Community Library still needs more volunteers. We have further induction sessions planned soon, on 10th and 17th August from 10am to 12pm and 4th to 11th September from 3pm to 5pm. We also have a few seats to fill in our steering committee, so please spread the word and help us to get more people involved.
If you would like more information or want to attend our induction sessions, please contact us at email@example.com and remember: "you can find magic wherever you look. Just sit back and relax. All you need is a book!"
