Date for your diaries!
Join us for ‘Hatfield in 1970s’ a free, drop-in event.
Come and enjoy a display of photographs from the county archives celebrating 1970s Hatfield. We would also love you to join us and the Our Hatfield community archive volunteer team to reminisce over tea and cake, please do bring any photos and memories of daily life in Hatfield (in the 1970s and beyond!)... to share with us and have the opportunity to add them to the Our Hatfield website, www.ourhatfield.org.uk. Our volunteers will be happy to assist with the scanning and uploading of local residents’ photographs as required. We will also be joined by local photographer, Ken Wright who took many photos of Hatfield during this era. This display of photographs will be up to enjoy until Friday 27th January (during library opening hours).
This event is in partnership with UHArts ‘John Myers: The World is not Beautiful’ photography exhibition, 2-23 December 2016 and 3-21 January 2017 , Art and Design Gallery, College Lane Campus, Hatfield. John’s photography explores suburban life of the 1970s in the housing developments of the West Midlands – documenting the cul-de-sacs, blocks of flats, garages etc alongside portraits of residents in their domestic environment, we are therefore running a display of photographs of Hatfield from the same era to allow for nostalgic reminiscence and comparison of architectural environments. For a look at John’s work and further details of the exhibition please visit UHarts website: http://www.uharts.co.uk/whats…/2016-17/john-myers-exhibition
We look forward to welcoming you
