Hertfordshire has been associated with film-making since the earliest days of the industry.
By the late 1920s, Hertfordshire was at the heart of film-making in Britain. The county’s own film studios became world famous and peaked during the 1950s and 60s. They turned out hundreds of well known films and provided thousands of jobs, mainly in Elstree and Borehamwood.
