Current exhibition - Surgery and Medicine – Lister's legacy

The new Lister Hospital in Stevenage opened in 1972.  Find out more about the man behind the name, 19th century surgeon, Baron Joseph Lister whose revolutionary ideas transformed surgical practice and saved countless lives. Our new foyer exhibition “Surgery and Medicine – Lister’s legacy” will be on display from Tuesday 23rd January and will include the opportunity to see examples of real historical medical equipment, including an old bone saw!

We would like to thank the Museum of St Albans for the loan of a number of medical instruments as part of the exhibition. We would also like to thank the Heritage Hub for funding received to support the creation of this exhibition.

Viewing of the display is completely free but we do welcome donations.
