Hertfordshire County Council

Sustainable growth

Sustainable, responsible growth in our county

Well-designed communities

Recognising there is a need for more housing in the county, we will work with partners to create vibrant communities that are well-connected and environmentally sustainable. Places with a good balance of jobs, homes, services, and amenities where everyone can thrive.

Strong economy

We will work to ensure that Hertfordshire continues to be recognised as a great place to do business. A county which nurtures local businesses whilst also attracting investment from world class, global businesses in order to drive the economic growth of the county.

Hertfordshire Growth Board is the way the county is now working together to manage growth. With the Hertfordshire population expected to rise by up to 175,000 by 2031, up to 100,000 new homes and around 100,000 new jobs will need to be created by the mid-2030s. This brings opportunities and challenges. Hertfordshire Growth Board is ready to respond.

Hertfordshire Growth Board is made up of the County Council, the 10 district and borough councils, the NHS Hertfordshire & West Essex Integrated Care System, Homes England and Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership. Working together is how we continue our ‘joint’ success and create opportunities for everyone, now and in the future.

Keep up-to-date with our progress at the Hertfordshire Growth Board.
