A fantastic opportunity has come up for creative students in Hertfordshire. WasteAware, part of the Hertfordshire Waste Partnership are calling on innovative individuals to create a short film promoting our county wide textiles recycling campaign; ‘The Unwearables’. The winning applicant will be awarded £500! This is a great opportunity for the winning student to refine their editing skills and let loose their imaginations whilst collaborating with a government partnership.
The winning film will encourage Hertfordshire residents to recycle their textiles. Currently, Hertfordshire residents are still sending 7000 tonnes of textiles to landfill each year! The purpose of ‘The Unwearables’ campaign is to break the misconception that items have to be good quality to be recycled in a textile bank. Textile banks take items for both reuse and recycling. We want the tatty textiles; the holey socks, ripped tights, torn t-shirts and many more!
If you know a student who would like to apply, request an application pack from firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively spread the word in your school/college by displaying our poster. Check out our Facebook (@wasteawarepartnership) and Instagram (@hertswasteaware) pages for more information on the ‘Unwearables’ campaign.
Application deadline: 15 December 2017
All entrants must be current residents or students within Hertfordshire in order to be eligible to join the competition.
