Keep it right Recycling the right items at home means your recycling can be transformed into something new.
Why? If you put the wrong item in your home recycling: it might not get recycled it could spoil the rest of your recycling it could cause problems with our machinery it can't be reused - consider donating your unwanted household items. Not sure if it can be recycled? Check our A to Z list to see what you can recycle at other local recycling facilities. Keep a copy of our leaflet as a reminder: what you can and can't recycle at home (PDF) If it can't be recycled, or if you're not sure, please put it in your general waste bin.
Keep it clean and empty Please make sure your recycling is clean and empty by pouring out any liquid and rinsing it in old dishwater to remove food residue.
Why? Only the container can be recycled. Any food or liquid left in it: can spoil paper and carboard by making it soggy. can stick to other recycling, reducing its quality and value. is unpleasant for our staff to sort through. makes your bin and our lorries smell bad.
