Strengthening Families is a course for parents of children 8-16 years old.

Due to COVID-19, we're unable to offer face to face courses.

A limited number of online courses are available, with the opportunity to attend a face to face course once they resume next year.

What will happen on the course?

Online course

The course lasts 6 weeks and consists of 6 x 1 hour online sessions and 6 group Zoom discussions.

This course is a brief introduction into some of the topics from the face to face programme however is not an intensive support programme. If you require intensive support, the face to face programme is more suitable.

You'll cover a range of topics, including:

  • Healthy relationships
  • Understanding and managing behaviour
  • Enhancing children's self esteem
  • Emotions and empathy
  • What to expect for the age of your child
  • Being part of a community.

Face to face course currently unavailable

The face to face course lasts 13 weeks and each session is 3 hours. It's delivered across the county by trained professionals.

You'll cover a range of topics, including:

  • Setting boundaries and positive discipline
  • Improving relationships
  • Building your child's self esteem
  • Conflict and anger management.

At the end of the course there's a graduation event. You'll get a certificate and have the chance to share your experience with friends and family.
